Sweet Nostalgia Trip: Carole King & James Taylor, 'Live at the Troubadour'
Judging from the tail find list of "Live," the answer is no, but it just doesn't be important: these are great, classic songs (and no matter who you are, you be familiar with a ton more King and Taylor tunes than you may initially come up with). And as much as the CD reminds us how many hits they each have in their pasts, the DVD shows the camaraderie and reverence between them.
With King at the piano and Taylor plucking an acoustic guitar, they look at each other with an glaring warmth which might just make this the feel-righteousness show of the year. They are truly enjoying performing together, and that face keeps any potential egos completely in verify. They each speak with such modesty; Taylor's tale about review " Sweet Baby James " for his nephew is winning, and King is utterly gracious in encouraging a shy audience to applaud for her former co-songwriter and ex-husband Gerry Goffin . Secure, their voices have aged — King's significantly more so than Taylor's — but that perfection just enhances these songs' agelessness.
