aFe 49-92003 Black Ceramic Coated Exhaust Tip
I installed an RBP performance programmer on my truck and I noticed that black smoke doesn't exit the ehxaust under throttle like all of my other deisels. I have a feeling that the particulate filter is going to get clogged very fast. I really dont want to go through the hassle of the regeneration process with loss of HP and exhaust noises, so can I remove it all together with out the trucks electronic system going nuts or can I get a less restricting aftermarket filter? Ill close with saying I like the black smoke that comes out when I get on the power, I don't care about passing smog as I will just put the filter back on before smog check. Perhaps someone could tell me the possible ramifications, if any, if I remove the particulate filter.
All I can tell you is that I know someone that did that on a Ford deisel once, and within a few months they had to buy a new engine.Ford would not replace the engine under warranty because taking the filter off is what ruined it.And that thing cost a fortune!!! But maybe someone out there knows something I don't,,just be careful and good luck!!
