Britain's haven for thrill-seekers
Perpetual ominously in the north of England lies some of the most breathtaking and rugged landscape in the UK.
Not only is the Lake District the most mountainous area in England, it is also one of the wettest places in Britain.
As you can think up, with names like Helvellyn, Scafell Pike, Skiddaw, Walla Palisade and Glaramara, this is no place for the fainthearted and it has become a Mecca for kill walkers, mountaineers and a whole host of thrill-seekers moribund to pit themselves against the great outdoors.
It is also a haven for history buffs, with more than 6,000 known archaeological sites and monuments dating from antediluvian times to Second World War.
Just backdrop foot outside is like taking a not according with back in time, with intimidating mountain ranges and myriad lakes from which the yard takes its name, offering some of the most breathtaking and unspoilt scenery in Europe.
