How do you remove the wiper arm off a 1989 GMC S15?

Trying to remove the cowl hood thats over the wiper arms and I cannot get it off without the wiper arms being removed. They look like they just pop off, just wanting to know if there is a little trick or special tool. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
No special tool. Just pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stands on it's own and tug the wiper arm off it's hub, It will take a bit of wiggling but, it'll come off.
Be sure to mark where the wiper was before you took it off.
