Pre-filters are used to allow water and larger foreign objects to sit in before reaching the end filters.
Google k&n to see if they manufacture some.

Bag Filters and VAV Systems
In my just out post on my field testing of different clarify technologies , I included a chart of the performance of the system with old-fashioned filters on a typical day, which I have reproduced below.
What you are looking at is:
Amount to flow (the fuzzy blue line) based on norm velocity across the filters, Bag filter pressure dive (the red line) measured with a differential pressure sensor dedicated to the intend, and Prefilter pressure drop (the green contract for), also measured with a dedicated differential pressure sensor.The smaller inset graph, which I have enlarged and reproduced below, looks at the subdivision of the main grahp where the system flow rate has dropped of to the minimal level that is typically seen at low load.
The apology for focusing on this is that the bag filter pressure drop observations shows an anomaly. ┬а Specifically, the bag cloth pressure drop falls off with flow, at best as you would expect, but then suddenly jumps up, even though the flow continues to stop in withdraw from off.

Well, I couldn't advocate it any longer so I ordered my first mods for the Outty. Granted these are wonderful low-tech but I figured I'd start cheap. I'm getting a set of Rene pegs and the pre-filters for both CVT and air sift. I have no perception how much encomiastic the pre-filters do, but winter is coming and I delineate to be out in the snow with this factor so perchance they will assist. They are worthless enough to give it a try, I appearance. I'm aroused about the pegs too. The pygmy riding that I've done, the low analysis pegs that are on it don't give me much trust in my toe-hold. The Rene pegs should fix that. I also routed my tranny pipe up to the pod room and my rad overflow tube to a cured catch sight of so it won't run all over goods if it's overflowing.
